The Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Jakarta wishes to notify the members of the Algerian community residing in Indonesia, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Fidji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Singapore and Tonga that parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place in Algeria on 30th May 2002 in order to elect the new members of the National People's Assembly.

Consequently, the Embassy is exceptionally extending the updating of the voters list from March 5 to 14, 2002. Nationals who are not yet on the voters' list of the Embassy but who have been issued a registration card may confirm their inscription on the said list simply by sending a fax.

The folders for registration of candidacies to the National Assembly can be retrieved at the Embassy of Algeria in Jakarta.

For Algerian election purposes, Jakarta is part of the constituency of zone 6 which also includes the USA, Asia, Oceania and the rest of the Americas. This means that there will be one seat in the National People's Assembly to represent this region.

Registered voters may cast their vote at the Embassy in Jakarta on the 30th May 2002.
